Connecting Cuts. Olive Hyde Gallery: Fremont, CA. November 7 – Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Connecting Cuts is a papercut exhibition showcasing global cross-cultural and modern papercut artwork by local, national, and international artists. This show brings together 27 local, national and Chinese artists with 60 works of handcut paper, including a large-scale papel picado installation, 3D works, and more. In today's mainstream, papercutting can be perceived as a mass produced and solely decorative artwork; a perception that overlooks the rich history, and contemporary movements in this deeply expressive artform. This show shares both the multicultural roots of this ancient practice and the diverse branches of its evolution in today's world.

Salon de Refusés: A Celebration of de Young Open Rejects. Four Chicken Gallery: San Francisco, CA. August 21 - September 3, 2023.

"We are writing to let you know that your work, listed below, has not been selected to be featured in the exhibition." In 1863, a group of Paris Salon rejects—including future masters such as Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne and Camille Pissarro—revolted. The result was a show that challenged the standards of the day and changed the course of contemporary art. Even now, a “Salon des Refusés,” or “exhibition of rejects,” remains a term of pride, signifying independence and boundary-pushing among artists whose work hasn’t been accepted by the establishment. This salon show featured over 145 works that were rejected from the 2023 de Young Open call. It was a flash art exhibition pulled together in the few days following rejection emails, and more importantly, an effort to bring artists together in good humored commiseration.

Me, Myself, and I. Organized by the Kids & Art Foundation. Analog Gallery: San Francisco, CA. September 18 - 25, 2021.

For the June 2021 virtual art workshop, Kids & Art brought together two dozen kids and their care circles, and paired them with nine professional artists from the Bay Area, New York and Los Angeles. The resulting body of work displayed here is collectively titled: “Me, Myself, and I.” Each teaching artist developed a unique project aimed at opening an opportunity for the child to share something about themselves. All the works, those of the artists and participants, were created simultaneously, and are here jointly displayed - affording the viewer a unique perspective on the linked bond between the individual pieces and their collective expression.
